Easy to Develop - Load Standard Android .APKs or Install a Custom Daughter Card
The NIM1000 Reference Tablet is ready to go out of the box. Right from the start,
you turn on the device and start using the pre-loaded applications.
Installing your own Android applications or even replacing the standard Android
UI are both easy to accomplish. Within a day you can be demonstrating your
application on a nice portable tablet form-factor.
In addition to loading your software applications, you can remove the rear enclosure and install your own custom daughter card to add additional functionality such as a 3G modem, Zigbee or Z-Wave, GPS, DECT, CatIQ or virtually any other subsystem.

Software Development -
Fully Customizable System and Application Software
You can completely customize both the system level and application level
software for your device. This includes adding device drivers for your
specific hardware components or developing completely custom UI. You also
have the option of using the standard Android framework UI. You have full debug capability through the USB
ADB client
connection.
The NIM1000 Reference Tablet Kit ships with a standard build of software that includes Linux 2.6.28 with drivers for all components and a customized version of the Android 1.5 Framework. Touch Revolution provides you with source code for both the Linux kernel and the Android framework that you can modify to meet the hardware and application needs of your NIM1000-based device. Touch Revolution also provides software upgrades as they become available.
